Trends in the Development of Documents Microforms and the Terminological Discourse of Standards for Micrography in the Era of the “Digital Economy”

Abstract: It is stated that analog microforms continue to be widely used in archival practice. The importance and relevance of research work in the field of micrography is noted, which is confirmed by the inclusion in the VNIIDAD Research and Development Plan for 2021 of two projects related to the problems of long-term storage of documents on microforms. The information on the promising developments of document storage systems using other principles of organizing memory systems is provided. Some terminological aspects of studying the processes of storing documents in archives are considered. The state of the regulatory framework in the field of long-term storage and use of microforms is assessed by comparing the domestic corpus of standards on micrography with the set of standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), in particular, the standards that form part of the eight-part terminological standard ISO ”Micrography – Dictionary“, as well as the standard GOST ”Reprography. Terms and Definitions”.
